How DZMx Bluetooth Works

The Flightcell DZMx Bluetooth® works like your car stereo Bluetooth. When you enter your vehicle, your phone connects automatically to the car stereo and streaming audio and voice calls are audible over the car stereo speakers. Likewise, when you enter an aircraft with DZMx Bluetooth enabled, your phone connects automatically to the DZMx and streaming audio and voice calls are audible over the aircraft intercom system.

They key thing to remember here is that the DZMx uses your phone cellular modem for voice calling, it does not use the DZMx cellular modem. It is pairing your phone audio to the aircraft intercom and the headsets. That’s fine if you want to make a call from your phone when you are on the ground or at low altitude, but it’s not going to work at high altitude – at that point you need to make a call from the DZMx keypad, or on a smart device using the DZMx Connect app.

Only one device can connect at any-one-time, which is the same for most Bluetooth services.

The DZMx offers a Bluetooth phonebook transfer function that copies your phone contacts to the DZMx phonebook. This is a separate phonebook to the one where normal DZMx contacts are stored. This is a temporary function and the contacts are erased in the DZMx when the unit powers off.

DZMx Bluetooth is a licensed feature and enabled by a software key.
