DZMx WiFi Explained
The Flightcell DZMx WiFi works the same as a home or office network router. You connect a smart device to it using default SSID “DZMx WiFi” and default password “Flightcell”. You can also connect WiFi capable equipment (e.g. medical monitor).
Once connected it is possible to browse the internet, send and receive email, and use social media communication platforms - provided there is a cellular data connection available. The WiFi antenna is inside the DZMx enclosure and the signal radiates through the display.
We often get asked “how many devices can I connect at once?” and the answer is the same as for a home or office network; there is no theoretical limit, however there is only so much bandwidth available and it is shared by all devices. So, the more devices, the slower the data rate for each device.
Another question we get asked is “how far does the signal reach?” and that is also a difficult question to answer. It depends on the location of the DZMx, the layout of the bulkheads, the length of the aircraft etc. There should be no problem receiving a signal in most first responder aircraft no-matter where you are onboard, unless the DZMx is completely shielded in a compartment or a cargo hold.
